The Traditions of the Lenten Season
and Holy Week

Many Christians like to express their faith by observing some of the original traditions of Holy Week or, (as some have called it), Passion Week. Many others often just wonder what it all means. So, lets see…

To a seeking believer, there is no arguing that this time of year is very important to the origins of our faith, as well as our continued faith in God. Many believe it is even more significant to us than Christmas, and it is certainly our cornerstone message when proclaiming the Gospel of Christ as the truth to a better way to live and to love in this world – and the world to come.

Thursday of Holy Week

First, there was a final Passover meal with His closest friends and His beloved disciples. Secondly, sometime during the meal, Jesus revealed to his twelve that He is aware of the desertion, denial, and betrayal that had already begun in their heart and would continue on that night.

Palm Sunday

Palm Sunday at the Reunion Church in Peoria AZ provides the opportunity to look closely at the message of Jesus as He enters Jerusalem. “Die to live. Follow to lead. Serve to rule. Be last to be first. Get to give. Sacrifice to receive. Be silent to be heard. Be the least to be the most. Humble yourself to lift yourself. Surrender all to be free of all. Lose yourself to save yourself. End the old to begin the new. Love openly, forgive quickly, give freely, pray faithfully, and speak truthfully.”
