The Foreknowledge Of God – Petros; Πέτρος, Week 5

Many biblical worldview theologians advise that the sovereign foreknowledge of God destroys the biblical principles of human freedom (free will) and personal responsibility. So, they wrongly respond to their critics that God does not know future events either with certainty or to their completion.

Think about that for a moment – does that not sound like a God with limitations?

Unfortunately, in present-day, the theological arguments regarding the foreknowledge of God continue to deconstruct and digress only to become even more unreliable and sketchy. For example, some modern theologians and influencers have conceived of God as growing and developing along with nature and man (kind of like a Discovery Channel). That argument leads only one place – “man ascends to be more like God, and God descends to become more like man.” This ideology of man does not match the Word of God.
John 8:23-29
“Jesus said to them, “You are from below; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world. 24 I told you that you would die in your sins, for unless you believe that I am He you will die in your sins.” 25 So they said to Him, “Who are you?” Jesus said to them, “Just what I have been telling you from the beginning. 26 I have much to say about you and much to judge, but He who sent me is true, and I declare to the world what I have heard from Him.” 27 They did not understand that He had been speaking to them about the Father. 28 So Jesus said to them, “When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am He, and that I do nothing on my own authority, but speak just as the Father taught Me. 29 And He who sent Me is with Me. He has not left me alone, for I always do the things that are pleasing to Him.” ESV

What is Serving God

Scriptures about serving God reveal to us who we are supposed to be. Being must always precede doing. To become a son and a daughter of God – to be known as a man or woman of God, will never be solely about what we do, it will always be about who we are. That is the key to serving God and one another. You and I can never do enough to repay God for all He has done for us, and we will never be able to do enough to make others like, love, or to be happy with us. But make no mistake, we can absolutely become who He has called us to be in Christ Jesus.

Biblical Readiness, Week Four Scriptural Guideposts: To Regulate – To Resist – To Be Resilient

In week four of our series Biblical Readiness, Dr. Stephen Isaac introduces the second of three scriptural guideposts leading to Biblical Readiness – -To Resist. More directly, to resist temptation and evil through the written
Word of God. The premise for “resisting through the written Word” as a scriptural guidepost is built upon a foundation that declares to us that the written Word of God is “the light to our path and the lamp to our feet” needed to resist all that tempts us and threatens to lead us into evil.

Neo-Philistine – Biblical Deconstruction and Biblical Illiteracy

The progressive evangelical Christian movement proposes that there are multiple ways to connect with God other than Jesus Christ. It is an attack against the moral and spiritual authority of biblical truth. This biblical deconstruction is a serious, growing threat to the health of the Church and to maturity of Christians.

What Christians Must Know About The Jewish Claim to the Land of Israel

Scripture is very clear that they – Israel, are God’s chosen people and they are the ones God bound Himself by covenant promise. Three thousand, seven hundred years ago God promised Abraham favor and blessing. God promised to multiply his offspring and to make him a great nation with a great name, Most importantly, by God’s own covenant promise He gave Abraham the territorial rights to a very specific region of land. This land was given to Abraham and his offspring by God – and Abraham and his descendants have occupied the land in some form or another – they have been there since God delivered it to their hands. What if you left your house for a month – when you came back someone else had moved and now said the home belonged to them. Whose house, whose land is it?

A Historical and Biblical Context for Philistine

Biblical context is crucial in studying God’s Word. Who are the Philistines and why does it matter? Abimilech, Goliath, Delilah, stealing the Ark of the Covenant…

The Origin of the Philistines

Philistines (פְּלִשְׁתִּים, pelishtim) were a people who emigrated from southern Greece to the coastland of Canaan. The Philistines were enemies of the Hebrew people between the time of the conquest of Canaan until the divided kingdom. The territory of Philistia extended past Gaza in the south to the Mount Carmel range in the north. According to Joshua 13:3 and 1 Samuel 6:17, the land of the Philistines, called Philistia, was a pentapolis in the southwestern Levant comprising the five city-states of Gaza, Ashdod, Ashkelon, Ekron, and Gath, from Wadi Gaza in the south to the Yarqon River in the north, but with no fixed border to the east.

Week One: Philistine – Godless Disdain and Rebellious Defiance

Philistine is the godless disdain and rebellious defiance of the God of heaven and earth. As such, any person, place, or thing that openly defies and denies the living God of the Bible and arrogantly defies and denies the authority of God as Creator of life and all living things is Philistine. From Abraham and Abimelech, to Samson and Delilah, from David and Goliath, to the Battle of Armageddon, Philistine is both a manifest spirit and a physical reality – a mindset and a condition of the heart. Philistine is past, present, and prophetic. Even as it was in “the days of old,” the people of God will stand in His name to contend and defend against those who have defied Him – Philistine.

Philistine Rebellion

…Godless disdain and rebellious defiance…

Any person, place, or thing that openly or secretly defies and denies the living God of the Bible and arrogantly defies and denies the authority of God as Creator of life and all living things is Philistine. From Abraham and Abimelech, to David and Goliath, from Samson and Delilah, to the Battle of Armageddon, Philistine is both a manifest spirit and physical reality – both truth and a lie – both past and present – both spiritual and intellectual. Yet, more than all of that, Philistine is the godless disdain and rebellious defiance of the God of heaven and earth, and the people of God must still contend and defend in righteousness against – Philistine.

A Call to Serve

What does the call to serve look like for a Christian church today? First, it is critical to note that the serving community is not an end in itself. An inward-looking community (self-serving) will eventually implode. Christ gathered his disciples together to serve a purpose larger than themselves, to pioneer God’s coming reign in which all things will be reconciled.
