Advent Reading:
“With the Advent and birth of Jesus, the great kingdom of peace has begun. Is it not a miracle that where Jesus has really become Lord over a people, that peace reigns? That there is one Christendom on the whole earth, in which there is peace in the midst of the world? Only where the righteousness of Christ Jesus is not allowed to reign—where human rebellion, defiance, hate, and avarice are allowed to live on unbroken—can there be no peace. Although He certainly could, Jesus does not want to set up His kingdom of peace by force, but where people willingly surrender themselves to Him and let His righteousness rule over them, He will give them His wonderful peace. In fact, the ancient prophet Isaiah prophesied of the coming Messiah that He will keep those in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Him.” The promise to those who have surrendered their lives to the righteousness of Christ is revealed in His Advent. No matter the contempt, chaos, or crisis of this world, He will give you peace.
“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6

“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid. Remember what I told you: I am going away, but I will come back to you again. If you really loved me, you would be happy that I am going to the Father, who is greater than I am. I have told you these things before they happen so that when they do happen, you will believe. “I don’t have much more time to talk to you, because the ruler of this world approaches. He has no power over me, but I will do what the Father requires of me, so that the world will know that I love the Father.

“I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”
