The Bread of Presence

9.6.20 Sanctified

Temple worship was both the physical and symbolic rite and ritual of God’s people to honor and make sacred His Covenant with their fathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. A central part of Temple worship was the sacramental system of restoring the righteousness of God to the people. In the Book of Leviticus the Old Testament references the objects of Israel’s unique bread-presentation ritual in two distinct ways. The blood sacrifice performed for the purpose of atonement for the sin of God’s chosen people, to be made Holy and presentable in the presence of their God. The ritual process of blood sacrifice for forgiveness of sin, and being made ready in sanctified holiness was performed in a Temple of worship made by the hands of men.
