Community Care Group Ministry
What are Community Care Groups?
Geographically and strategically located “home groups” existing first and foremost to obey the call of God, and to fulfill the vision of Reunion Church. Each group is a ministry outreach designed to build relationships, deepen faith, and to provide spiritual growth and practical support for its participants. As an outreach, each group extends itself to friends, neighbors, and co-workers to grow and ultimately reproduce itself.
Where will Community Care Groups be Located?
Care groups will be geographically and strategically located in the homes of trained leaders from Reunion. For example, care groups will be located strategically by need, accessibility, and leadership. Care groups will also be located geographically for existing members of Reunion and then for the growth potential that exists.
When will Community Care Groups Meet?
Community Care groups will meet weekly on an evening chosen by the Group Leader and the Co-Leader. On the 4th Wednesday of each month, there will be a Community Care celebration gathering at Reunion Church. Group Leaders and any members who wish to join will gather for Worship, Dinner, Leadership Support, and Praise Reports. Community Care Groups will be an intimate and welcoming one-hour gathering in a home capable of comfortably handling 10-14 guests. Each Care Group gathering will include a warm inclusive welcome, a moderate refreshment, a short lesson (curriculum provided) with strategic conversation intervals. Evenings will conclude with encouragement, sharing of events and gatherings, and an appropriate and meaningful prayer time. Alcohol and crude offensive language are not permitted and are never acceptable. As needed, Community Care Groups will provide childcare (expense to be shared by the group).
Who Can Lead or Attend a Community Care Group?
A Community Care Group Leader must be a faithful member of Reunion Church (worshipping, tithing, and serving). A Community Care Group Leader must complete the Care Group Training provided by Reunion Church. Anyone can attend a Community Care Group provided they have an invitation from a Group Leader or Group member. Why is Reunion starting Care Groups now?
As part of the original vision of Reunion Church, Community Care Groups was one of the cornerstone ministries used to fulfill the vision God gave to Reunion according to Acts 2:42-46 “We love God, we teach His truth; we care for one another in fellowship, communion, and prayer.” This vision has not changed – we are committed now more than ever to loving God, teaching biblical truth, and serving and caring for the people God leads us to. The Community Care Groups did not become ineffective – we did. As part of our renewed covenant to God and one another, God is pouring into us a renewed vision. But he is not pouring it into old wineskins! We are renewed in faith and in covenant to who and what God has called us to be. The pastors and elders of Reunion are in full agreement – Community Care Groups are vital to the vision God has given us. Reunion Church Loving God – Serving People – Building Families of Faith. Community Care Groups will now fulfill that vision.
