We can’t deny that God, in spite of being good, just, loving and merciful, allows things to happen in our world that cause suffering and sorrow for human beings. No pastor, prophet or preacher can explain or spin that away. Evil happens – God has allowed it. Tragedies take place – God allows it. Injustice destroys – God allows it. The innocent suffer – God has allowed it. We can’t fix it or change it. We can’t help it or stop it. We can’t explain it or understand it. God allows it.
